Lincoln Bodies Moved In Secret Vault Within Monument
Springfield reports reveal that in November 1874 the Lincoln and Mrs Lincoln remains were secretly moved within the Lincoln Monument. The Lincoln guard of honor prepared a vault south of the sarcophagus and secured the bodies in a cemented receptacle before later reinterment beside each other.
