A local lumber dealer touts its goods as versatile and favored by leading builders in town and country. The firm stresses superior grades, thorough seasoning, and under cover protection to prevent warping from rain and sun.
We hang paper calso mine and do all kinds of interior decorating plus house and sign painting. Dealer in paints oils glass and related supplies.
A massive morning blaze swept through East 67th Street and 69th Street in New York, destroying the Wallace C. Andrews residence and the Adams home. Eleven lives are known lost with several servants missing or dying. Firefighters battled flames until 6 pm. bodies of Mrs. St. John and her son Wallace were recovered, as were others in the upper floors.

Berlin April 7 report that Dr. O Schmidt minister at Caracas and Dr Steubel consul general at Shanghai have been appointed Samoan commissioners for Germany seeking to coordinate German policy in the Pacific region.
The body of Geo. B. Fern was found in his West Madison Street store this morning with a bullet wound to the head. The cash drawer was rifled and Fern’s pockets were turned inside out, suggesting a violent robbery.
Heavy storms hit the English channel and Irish coast. Considerable property destroyed. A number of fishing smacks wrecked and others missing.
Special reports note showers in Illinois and mixed conditions elsewhere. Samoa crowns Tanumafili Malietoa as king with American and British presence while German officials are reportedly absent. In Manila, General Montenegro, a leading insurgent figure, is reported killed by Pacificos near the American lines.
In Cartinsville Illinois on April 7 a strike by Fourth district hoisting engineers ended and mines resumed operations after a compromise was reached.
Observed anniversary notes a 23 year marriage of Mr and Mrs D H Johnson in Posey county Indiana. Friends visited last night to share a card party supper from Mr Johnsons mother s farm era and hint at a larger celebration planned for a future golden anniversary. Dancing at Lexington club and Owl club event at Old Temperance hall marked social week. Mrs J B Kummerer turns 88 with quiet family celebration.

Postmaster Lawler reports for last quarter ending March 31 showing $21,610 local office and nearly $68,000 yearly total, reflecting Rockford growth. Aurora post office annual receipts near $40,000 placing it among first-class offices, Rockford ahead of Aurora by about $30,000. Freeport post office receipts for last year around $33,000.
Tug Wilson, a well known local char, was seriously injured when a gun exploded while he hunted ducks near the iron bridge on the Madison Central line. The blast shattered his nose, cut his left eye, and knocked him down as Bert Horton and Cal Kramer rushed to aid him.
A man named Wilson received severe wounds and was carried to the Burdett organ factory, where police were summoned and he was taken to Dr. Poling's office for dressing. He is now under care at St. Francis hospital.
