The Great Whig National Convention at Baltimore
A vivid report from the New York Express describes the May Fourth Whig National Convention in Baltimore. Delegations from every state paraded under banners and regalia, led by Capt. James C. Law, with Daniel Webster among invited guests. The procession, two miles long, showcased banners, music, and a chorus of cheers as Whigs from New England to Georgia assembled to oppose the party in power and pledge unity.
