School Board Sets Repairs and Finances at September Meeting

The board ordered $75 interest on a $1500 Gabriel Miller mortgage paid and renewed $3000 Eckley Coxe building insurance. A heating furnace repair plan was approved with galvanized iron stacks to chimney. The building committee may sell scrap iron. The solicitor was asked to release bonds of ex-Treasurers Everitt and McCole. July 31 balance stood at $2258.23. Coal for schools to be procured before October meeting. Various bills totaling $7454 were approved for payment. Prohibition candidates Swallow and Nichols spoke to about 300 at Public Park. Twenty-six strikers were convicted in Schuylkill court for rioting and sentenced to costs. county will waive costs tomorrow. Hazleton club invited to play next week but manager refused to risk reputation away from hoodlums at Hazle Park.
