At Hazleton the anthracite miners convention convened with President Mitchell to offer advice tomorrow. Delegates, many favoring a strike, hear songs and addresses while awaiting a report from the credential committee. Mitchell arrived at Freeland later, urging unity whether strike or work is chosen.
Since May 1 a small yellow Jersey cow with the tip of one horn broken has been missing. Information on its whereabouts will be rewarded by the owner Mrs Campbell Freeland.
Four men face first degree murder trials in Pottaville. William Jones of Philadelphia is accused of killing William Utilus in Shenandoah, who died May 2. Indicted May 5, coroner’s jury charged May 8. verdict expected today. Also on trial are Mathew Sitvinski John Mercavage and Charles Mercavage for the fatal crushing of John Litvinage during a barrel incident in Shenandoah.

Company officials call the tax exorbitant while council members deem it moderate for the franchise. Next steps may declare poles wires and unused tracks a public nuisance to be removed.
