At a Nanticoke school board meeting two directors reported bribe offers to support a teacher applicant Miss Helen Czhowicz. Mada yewski and Dodson backed her. Kijorn and Rees cited offers of 75 and 50 dollars. The room was cleared, a secret session held, and an investigation begun by the law and ordinance committee.
Licensed retail liquor dealers of Lackawanna and Luzerne counties join forces to establish headquarters in Scranton. Patrick Bradley, 60, died at his Highland home after weeks of illness. Foster township school board met yesterday and reappointed teachers for the new term. Harvey E. Hoffman was named supervising principal at 960 dollars yearly for three years. New hires filled three vacancies created by Hoffman’s promotion, Miss Lizzie Metzgar, Peter R. O'Donnell, and Miss Grace McGeehan, and schools will open on September 2 with the supply committee ordering needed materials.
