On the Taylor Lawrence farm late Thursday a donkey was badly injured by an unknown animal, likely a large cat. Mrs. Taylor reported claw marks along its back and neck bites, with prior scares near the fence and reports of two large cats seen nearby last spring.
An eleven year old girl from Combs Road Ovid was reported missing Monday at 9 00 p m after last seen at 3 45 p m. Fire departments from Ovid Lodi and Romulus led a search in the Ovid Lodi area. The girl was found safe in Hector Schuyler County and returned home. Sheriff Matt McKeon and Undersheriff Gerald Brewer directed the operation with state police and safety patrol aid. Additional items note multiple traffic incidents and arrests in the region with charges including driving while intoxicated reckless driving and assault 3rd degree. Bail and court dates are listed for each case.
OVID Junior Girl Scout Troop 327 plus three adults camped two nights at Camp Bailiwick on Cayuga Lake’s west shore. Sixteen troop members joined two Senior Scouts from Interlaken for campfire cooking hiking and sleeping out. They shared evenings with Troop 55 of Lod! at Camp Windjammer with skits singing and games before returning home Sunday.
The Consumer and Home Making Education Program holds a special work meeting on Thursday September 14 at the Ovid Federated Church from 9 30 to 11 30 a m. Attendees should bring two pint cans and rings if needed and wear a short sleeved washable dress or apron. Child care will be provided. Jacksonville Community Church launches an after school program for kindergarten and up this Friday September 15 at 3 45 pm with weeks of recreational activities. Transportation is available and the program runs weekly through October 13.
The Home Economics Division of Seneca County Cooperative Extension announces a program titled Stretching Your Beef Dollar. The meeting is Tuesday September 19 at 8 p.m. at the Farm Home and 4 H Center in Waterloo. Dave Wilson of Loblaws will present and the public is invited.

Dr and Mrs Henry Sondheimer announce the birth of twins Alice and Niel on Saturday September 2 1972 in Arizona. They are grandchildren of Dr and Mrs John W McConnell of Cayuga Street.
