Infrared lamps nurs e baby chicks in new brooding method
Cornell professor Donald R. Price reports a cage brooding system using infrared heat lamps over wire cages as a local warmer. Compared with floor brooding, cage brooding yields heavier birds and later egg production though overall egg output remains similar. The two-year study supports shifting to wire cage brooding to reduce room heating needs. Milk cows in New York consumed 1 822 000 tons of grain in 1967.
