A community survey at Willard in Penn Yan shows residents prefer Center over Hospital as the site’s name. Most participants favor replacing Willard with Psychiatric Center of the Finger Lakes or Finger Lakes Psychiatric Hospital.

A poll of 108 respondents shows 58 percent favor changing the hospital name, 16 percent favor the present name, and 26 percent have no opinion. Among employees 82 percent favor change while residents show 41 percent in favor. When opinions are isolated, 92 percent of employees and 65 percent of residents support renaming. Older patients 40 plus show 37.5 percent in favor.
