Cathy Smith daughter of Mr and Mrs Aubrey Smith has been selected to attend Empire Girls State at the University of New York State at Albany from June 27 to July 3. Sue Stiles daughter of Mrs Kenneth Westbrook is an alternate chosen for leadership patriotism and scholarship.
At First Baptist Church Interlaken the Rev James R Sheppard is installed as regular pastor by church deacons led by Ernest Hillbrand. He spoke on The Infinite Coat of Redemption and led Lord's Supper. evening talk was The Saint's Inheritance. Parsonage occupancy and a May 14 reception announced.
Interlaken Volunteer Firemen's Auxiliary held an Installation Dinner and April meeting at Townsend Hotel Lodi. Alfred Jackson was chosen for his 7th term as Fire Chief of the Interlaken Volunteer Fire Dept on April 28. Officers elected include Roger Townsend as 1st Asst. Chief and President, Dewey Albro as 2nd Asst. Chief, John McCheyne as Vice President, Leon Stannard as Secretary, Percy Freese as Treasurer, with truck captains Robert McLaughlin Leon Stannard Jack Bona and Charlie Haskin and Fire Police Captain Raymond Williamson. Trustee Richard Bona named for 2 years.
For the first time since the merger the South Seneca Central High School Band and Chorus perform as one unit on Friday May 7 at 8:00 p.m. in the Ovid Building. The Concert Choir, directed by Robert Jacoby, features 85 singers and performs Traces Rainbows Keep Fallin on My Head Anthem for Spring Guantanamera Spinning Wheel. The Concert Band, led by Robert Gerlach, plays Henderson Festival March Sonata for Winds and Paint Your.
Interlaken Post 462 will hold its annual officer election at the May meeting. All members are urged to attend and welcome new members or reinstaters. The post invites the community to view improvements at the Legion home and meet prospective officers for the coming year. Edward C. Saunders of Box 195 Maple St has been named to Rochester Institute of Technology Dean's List.
