Interlaken announces the Firemen's Carnival Firemen's Queen contest with Floyd Makyes as chairman. The winner earns a $25 savings bond crown and flowers and may represent the department at parades. Judging is June 17 at 8 p.m. Contestants parade June 16. entry deadline May 13.
Contestant in 1967 Interlaken Firemen's Queen Contest residing in the Interlaken Fire District plans to ride in the parade in an evening gown Friday June 16 and be judged Saturday June 17 at the Carnival Grounds. She will join 4 or 5 parades with queens from other communities. Signed by the applicant and parent.
Gary A Brinkerhoff, son of Harold and Mrs Brinkerhoff, is honorably discharged from the Navy after a second six month Vietnam tour. He arrives at Long Beach California then returns home to Interlaken where his family and friends welcome him with a Christmas tree and treats. Relatives gather for the welcome home events at the Brinkerhoff residence.
Townspeople attend hospital poppy making at Canandaigua Veterans Hospital and share family visits. Genea General Hospital reports minor surgery for Herbert Brokaw in town. Families including DeRock, McRorie, Young, Knight, and VanCamp attend gatherings and remodel projects. Notable death: former Townsendville farmer Charles Fox dies after long illness on March 10. Weekend visitors include Orie Leonard of Ithaca and John Terry family.
Interlaken Grange 160 schedules a March 18 meeting at 8 p.m. with a green attire penalty for noncompliance and an Easter bonnet parade judged by oldest newest and funniest. Deputy Brother William Ward will attend unofficially. Refreshments of sandwiches and cookies served. Junior Troop 119 Leaders listed along with troop members and committee names.
Kathryn Grace of Oswego, daughter of Mr and Mrs Loren Grace, earns Fall Semester Dean's List with a B average or higher at State University College at Oswego. Dean J Sherwood Dunham notes two consecutive semesters on the Dean's List earn Founders Day honors in October.
Dr and Mrs Lafayette Young of Alton announce the engagement of their daughter Patricia to Karl Messmer son of Mr and Mrs Gerard Messmer of Interlaken. Patricia is granddaughter of Mrs Doris Dundow of Sheldrake and a 1963 valedictorian at Alton High. Karl is a 1963 Interlaken High graduate who will finish at Ithaca College in June 1967. The wedding is set for this summer. Interlaken O E S Past Matrons Club meets at Louise Johnston home on Thursday Mar 30 1967 at 8 00 p.m.
Miss Rita Larsen of Ithaca is staying several weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Brust to recuperate from surgery. The Green Thumb Garden Club met at Ruth Brokaw's home for a show on election of officers.
Interlaken Brownie Troop 105 led by Mrs. Carol Ganoung with assistant Mrs. Thelma Harford and committee members including Mrs. Joan Russell and Mrs. Emily Aman. Junior Troop 112 splits into two units totaling 54 girls, led by Mrs. Lucille DeRock with assistants Mrs. Rose LaVette and Mrs. Martha Scott.
Interlaken Cub Scouts and parents are informed of a new date for the March pack meeting. The meeting moves to Monday March 20 at 7 p.m. in the Interlaken Central School auditorium. The den mothers and committee meeting is rescheduled to Thursday April 6.
