Seneca County's official 1970 population reached 35 083, up 9.7 percent from 1960. The state’s count stood at 18 190 740, up 8.4 percent. White residents numbered 34 547 (98.5 percent). 405 were Negro and 131 other races. Housing figures show 9 853 households and 11 488 housing units with 65.6 percent owner occupancy.
