Two Seek School Board Office at Trumansburg
Edward Meixell of Mecklenburg and Mrs Royal Colle of Trumansburg seek a five year term on the Trumansburg Board of Education to fill the vacancy created by Donald Gaisze who does not seek re election. Voting July 13 from 2 to 8 PM at Building 2. Meixell a White Haven Pennsylvania native with a Mecklenberg poultry business and a Cornell agriculture degree speaks of providing quality education and prudent tax use. Colle a Salem Oregon native with a Boston University BA and longtime Trumansburg resident is active in church and community groups and supports Middle States Evaluation recommendations for high school education.

Lodi Old Tyme Days Open With Parade and Tractor Pull
Lodi hosts Old Tyme Days this weekend starting Thursday with a 6 p.m. tractor pull and four premium classes. Friday features a Roaring Twenties parade led by Clayton Brown, predicted to be among the village’s most unusual. Saturday includes an Old Car show steered by Jack Mulford, plus a mock trial and wedding, rides for children, a beef barbecue by Emmett Smith and Webb Gancing, and a large 1 p.m. fireworks display to close the gala.

Captain Holland Decorated for Valor in Vietnam
Captain Robert G. Holland of the 1st Air Cavalry Division in Vietnam receives the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with silver star. A 11 year Army veteran and helicopter pilot, he has eight air medals and a Bronze Star for valor. He is Cornell ROTC graduate and father of two, with ties to Tr umansburg and Cornell.

Area Schools Hold Warm Graduation Ceremonies
In Trumansburg ninety five graduates wore robes as they received diplomas at the Central School following a Commencement service at Charles O. Dickerson High School. Rev Dodds spoke on facing future challenges, with awards given to top students, including Elizabeth Blatherwick and Gail Huhta. Interlaken also held a June 26 commencement with John M. Bickel delivering life learned rules. Ovid Central celebrated Class of 66 with Karen Strouse delivering the salutatory and Mary Cathleen McElroy the valedictory amid pomp and circumstance.
