VanBenschoten Chosen Interlaken High School Principal
At the South Seneca Central School Board meeting G Douglas VanBenschoten was named High School principal to replace Albert Deitz who resigns effective June 30. The former Interlaken principal has served as district business affairs assistant since January and is supported by the Teachers Association to lead the high school. He is an Ithaca College graduate who began teaching in 1958 and previously held roles as commercial teacher, vice principal, and high school principal at Interlaken Central School before the merger. He and his wife Betsy have two sons, Robert and Richard.

Ovid Filter Bed Tests Discussed at Village Meeting
At the June 15 Municipal Building meeting in Ovid the sewer improvement project was the main topic. Ben Franklin reported engineers from Syracuse O'Brien and Gear began testing the filter bed sand and would decide on a new mix if needed. results were expected by June 18. Current bills were audited and the session adjourned at 8 30 p m.
