Bluebird Speed Trials Backed by Canandaigua Fans
Canandaigua Lake Promotions Inc. established by local business leaders hosted Donald M Campbell at Shepard Marina near Canandaigua Lake on the former Bluebird Park site. Campbell attempted a world water speed record of 250 mph in 1957, reaching about 190 mph on the six mile course while crowds watched the Bluebird streak by. The group added a speed museum and work area for the Bluebirds crew at a repurposed trucking warehouse serving as headquarters.

Fire extinguishers for boats and the Bluebird legend
Boat owners are advised to carry two extinguisher types with dry powder best for fuel fires but useless on wood or paper. Water extinguishers suit wood fires. The Underwriters Laboratory guides type use, Coast Guard rules require one or two extinguishers by boat length, and carbon tetrachloride is not approved. The article also recalls Campbell family ties to Canandaigua, the Bluebird speed records, and local tourist activity over a July Fourth weekend.
