State School Evaluations Begin In New Albany
Albany reports that the State Department of Mental Hygiene has formed review committees at all state schools for the mentally retarded to audit facilities and programs for compliance with accreditation standards. Dr. Frederic Grunberg says committees will plan improvements as needed and halt the use of seclusion in locked rooms. Standards come from the Accreditation Council for Facilities for the Mentally Retarded and cover space safety care staffing and treatment. Committees will periodically report progress toward meeting the standards.
