Farm Bureau members meet with state legislators in Interlaken
Seventeen Seneca County Farm Bureau members joined Assemblyman Joseph Finley Senator Ted Day and Fred Warder at the Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce meeting. Paul Zimmerman explained the organization is a voluntary non governmental group with 16 000 NY members and over 2 million nationwide. Day outlined a Farm Labor Bill to let agricultural workers organize voluntarily with a farm labor board separate from the ILRB and noted farm products are perishable, so strikes could devastate crops. Finley urged economizing by cutting a few mental hygiene commissioners while maintaining essential services. Legislators favored cuts over more Federal Revenue Sharing to balance the budget and warned there is no priority system for spending until it exists.
