Wayne County Activity Center Opens in Lyons November 1971
The Wayne County Activity Center in Lyons opened November 24 1971 to help residents discover new interests and support each other. Every Wednesday 9 to 12 twenty seven participants join in recreation arts and crafts and group therapy with volunteers from the Wayne County Unit of Willard State Hospital including Mrs Helen Russell Christine Olmstead Ernestine Burpee Dede Bennett and Harold Mason. Volunteer training at the Center is scheduled for February 9 16 and 23 with three groups of nine rotating through one hour sessions.
