Willard Staff Help Open Wayne County Day Care Center
On November 24 1971 the Wayne County Activity Center opened in the Newark Wayne Community Hospital. The program began at Willard and is now run by the Wayne County Mental Health Clinic with Willard State Hospital personnel. One day a week the center operated with 27 patients including 18 from Family Care homes and 9 referred by the clinic. The effort aims to reduce hospitalizations and aid community reintegration. Willard's Education Unit plans to expand the model and mobilize private resources to open centers countywide.
