New York Boating Laws Tighten Safety Rules This Season

New York boaters face two new requirements. Distress signals become mandatory on powered craft 18 feet and longer, excluding racing hulls, with a fluorescent orange flag and three red flares. The solo operation age rises to 16, and youths 10 to 16 must complete the Young Boatmen's Safety Training Course for powered craft.
