Cottagers Denied Work on Roads at Interlaken Meeting

Interlaken officials refused cottage owners requests to use highway equipment for private road repairs citing legal prohibition and a prior board resolution. Representatives for Covert and Rocky Dock Road groups pressed for town takeovers and ongoing maintenance, but requests were denied while other town actions were approved including annexation and planning board setup.

South Seneca Board Set for August 10 Meeting

The regular meeting of the South Seneca Board of Education will be Monday evening at 8:00 p.m. in the Interlaken Building. Agenda includes Maxson report on buildings and grounds and transportation. Dryden resolution for school boards and teacher appointments.

Lodi Accepts Bids for New Town Grader

Lodi Town Board met in special session to open bids for a new grader for the highway department. Bids from Syracuse Supply Co. and J.C. George Co. were reviewed. the board accepted J.C. George Co. bid for a D1S00 Huber grader at a net cost of 26,545 after allowances. Attending were Supervisor A Alhouse, Justices Halsey and Simmons, Councilmen Voorhees and Ganoung, Highway Supt Richard McCheyne, Clerk Lois Jennings, Attorney Wim Xoch, and representatives from J.C. George Co. and Syracuse Supply, plus several citizens.

John Terry Coffee Wagon Tours Seneca County 34th District Swing

John H. Terry the Republican Conservative candidate for the House of Representatives conducted a series of coffee hours in Interlaken and Fay ette, traveling in a 20 foot trailer with coffee and decor. He held four stops from nine to five and planned 215 such hours before Election Day, engaging voters on economy and related issues.

Farr property studied for school site

At a July 29 special meeting of the South Seneca Board of Education, the Ovid Interlaken project was reviewed. Architect James Mowry explained progress on drawings for renovation of the Ovid and Interlaken buildings, while Attorney Stuart Miller discussed site options, including the Farr property north of Odion Route 414 with an option paid to proceed with well tests.
