Geriatric Screening Program At Willard State Hospital
After 2.5 years the Geria tric Mobile Team in Upstate New York evaluated eight county area care options for seniors. In 1969 new admission guidelines favored psychiatric treatment and community placement over custodial care. The team screened referrals to decide on in patient admission or alternate care while fostering ties with local nursing and proprietary homes. Thirty three percent recommended admission, fifty percent alternate care, seventeen percent other outcomes.
