Stahl Contests Molberg Mayoral Victory In Texas Election

Local insur ance man August D Stahl announces a bid to contest Mayor Joe Molberg’s April election win. He cites Article 2978A requiring a candidate to file a supporting affidavit and argues Molberg met no such filing. Molberg says he complied and notes Stahl’s name was not on the ballot. Stahl received 168 votes to Molberg’s 453.

Frontier Festival at Fredericksburg High School Thursday

Fredericksburg High School to stage a Frontier Festival in the Public School Auditorium Thursday at 8 p m with the entire student body participating. Willie Mae Habenicht and Othello Tanner will be presented as representatives from the Southwest Texas State College festival, with senior through freshman favorites announced. The program, themed Gay Ninety, will be followed by a student dance after the show.

Harper and St Marys Graduation Events Across Fredericksburg

Harper High School opens May 16 with baccalaureate on May 16 and graduation May 20. Fredericksburg High on May 23. St Marys Fredericksburg closes May 28 with reports to pupils. Graduation at St Marys Church on May 30 at 7 30 p m with Mass and Holy Communion by graduates. Class Day scheduled May 25 at 8 p m.

City plans new water wells west of Fredericksburg

City Commission authorized City Engineer Alfred Neffendorf to arrange test wells west of Fredericksburg to secure extra water supply for growth. Mayor Molberg notes existing Southeast wells along Pedernales River still adequate but added wells act as future protection. Also approved pump house extension, chlorinator, curb building project on entry highways, and switching station foundation work under Felix Wilke.

Big Street Parade Opens Homecoming Observance Here

Centennial of Gillespie County and the first annual Homecoming Observance planned for June 12 and 13 will begin with a parade along Main Street. Entries may be historical commercial artistic or comical and must be provided at entrant cost. Local groups schools churches clubs and firms urged to participate.

Rainfall in Southwest Texas Breaks Drought and Fills Tanks

Heavy rain Tuesday and Monday night raised 1.75 to 3 inches in many areas, with Llano recording 3.43 inches. The moisture revived small grains and corn, filled stock tanks, improved pastures across Southwest Texas, and ended a three year drought near San Angelo. Minor crop damage occurred south of Twin Sisters in Blanco county.

Clifford Balser of Balser Davis and Davidson accounting firm is elected president of the Fredericksburg Junior Chamber of Commerce at a Fair Park meeting. Construction Work To Start On City Hall And Fire Station

H H Moeller of San Antonio won the bid to build the new City Hall and Fire Station at West Main and North Crockett. Work is set to begin within three weeks with temporary housing for the Volunteer Fire Department. Total cost may reach about 75 000 dollars, funded by a bond issue and city warrants.

Forty Seven St Marys Students Receive Solemn Communion

Forty seven St Marys pupils each received Solemn Holy Communion at 9 30 Mass celebrated by Msgr F X Wolf after months of catechetical instruction. Boys and girls named among the communicants and a guard of honor formed by the St Joseph Society as they processed into the church.
