Fredericksburg Delegation Seeks New Bridge on Llano Road

A Fredericksburg group urged the Texas State Highway Commission to construct a new bridge over Town Creek on Highway 16 also known as Llano Road. The delegation led by Mayor Joe Molberg asked for curb to curb widening on East Main to South Adams and for paving with curbs and gutters along feeder streets.

Harper Youth Struck on Bridge in Highway Mishap

Herbert Lang 12 of Harper remains in critical condition at Fredericksburg Hospital after a bicycle collision with a pickup driven by Oren Cottle on a bridge near Harper. Lang suffers a fractured skull concussion multiple broken ribs and a broken leg with other injuries. Cottle’s lights allegedly failed just before the crash as he attempted to cross the bridge to inspect them.

Mrs Hugo Heimann Killed in Blanco Highway Crash

Mrs Anna Lee Heimann 40, wife of Hugo F Heimann, of Austin, died Saturday afternoon three miles south of Johnson City when two tires blew out on their car, sending it into a Union Bus Line bus. Hugo F Heimann 42 was injured. nephew Harvey E Boos 21 escaped with minor injuries.

Walter Jewelry Store Burglary Leaves Five Pocket Watches Missing

A Friday night burglary at Walter's Jewelry Store saw seven watches stolen from show cases five pocket watches and two wrist watches. Sheriff Robert Loth said no trace of the burglars had been found. Entry was gained via a rear storage room window with a jimmied, broken transom above the door. Three locks were opened from inside and only the watches were taken.

FFA youths excel in Mohair contest at Comfort

Fredericksburg FFA members Oliver Welgehausen and Ernest Grote tied for high individual honors as their team placed third with 3100 points. Kerrville won with 3265 points, Comfort and Harper tied for second at 3115, and other teams tracked scores as students learned shearing weights and fleece value.

In Gillespie County, a special Venice jury process is under way for William Doyle Biddy 22 seaman of Lampasas charged with arson in Seipp's Dance Hall fire that killed four.
