Gillespie County Commission ers Court met for routine business this week. The court canvassed School District 19 Hayden election results approving a tax reduction from 50 to 25 cents per hundred. Fifteen votes were cast. 14 supported the cut, one opposed. Two aid petitions were approved for $5 monthly to Carl Rabke and Wesley Bryan. County treasurer’s report showed balances: Jury Fund 7006.20, Road and Bridge 18888.63, General Fund 12608.73, Road Duty Fund listed.
The text states that the Post Office Department holds a monopoly on conveying mail and forbids private express shipments on established routes with penalties up to five hundred dollars or six months imprisonment. It also allows informal delivery by individuals to a nearest post office and notes exceptions for unpaid private conveyance or single occasion messengers.
Notice warns delinquent February 1 1933 taxes will be remitted with penalties and interest. Taxpayers failing to pay by July 1 1933 face ten percent penalty and six percent interest per the Attorney General ruling to Tax Collector Knoche.

Fredericksburg faces a fund shortage as the city's vote to dissolve incorporation cuts the Fredericksburg Volunteer Fire Department’s aid. The department, long unpaid and risking life to protect property, calls on citizens to pledge financial support to maintain essential firefighting services.
Tax Collector Walter E. Knoche finds that before Prohibition the county earned over $1 000 annually from beer licenses. County share was $31.25 per license, with the state at $62.50 from each dealer, and whiskey licenses yielded $187.50 to the county. If 3.2 beer is legalized in August, prices may stay similar, with federal tax added. beer could be sold off the keg, reviving the "nickle beer" era.
Joe Morena a 12 year old Mexican youth had three fingers of his left hand mangled when a dynamite cap he was playing with exploded. He was treated by Dr H Pfeiffer and all three fingers were amputated. The accident occurred Sunday near noon at the gypsum mine on the Mason Road about 12 miles from Fredericksburg where his father works.
Germania Singing Club members and families held a barbecue supper at six o clock last Saturday at Mr and Mrs Weyrichs home. About fifty people attended with songs, outdoor games, ice cream, and cold drinks.
Tax Collector Walter E. Knoche sought a ruling from the State Comptroller on whether a man must pay his wife’s poll tax. The reply: if paying personal property taxes, both poll taxes must be paid. if only poll taxes, the husband may pay either his or his wife’s poll tax. A Parker County case on the matter was noted as continued.
Report states 98 of 100 Gillespie County children immunized against diphtheria, eliminating risk for all but two per hundred. Volunteers worked free of charge, setting a high standard for civic effort and urging Texas counties to follow suit despite a small remaining unvaccinated cohort.
Mrs Albert Schmidt and daughters visit with Mr and Mrs Alfred Joseph at Austin. Clint Hardin ranch manager says the annual Hardin Rodeo at the PL Ranch will be staged next Saturday and Sunday June 17 and 18 with riding roping bucking wrangling and added attractions on par with past performances.
Plans nearing completion for a grand Fourth of July in Fredericksburg. The day opens with a Grand Parade led by the Fredericksburg Concert Band and features an afternoon program at the Fair Grounds with a band concert. Night brings a Seipp’s Open Air Pavilion dance with two orchestras. Many floats are pledged by business houses and organizations. The Legion urges broad participation and invites all local groups to join the parade on commercial floats.
Bil lie Woods and Clifford Dopson two of 11 escapees from the Kansas penitentiary May 30 were captured near Junction 80 miles southeast of San Angelo and held for Kansas authorities. Custom officers J A Tilley and W E Kilborn stopped a car carrying two men two women and a child and identified Woods as an escapee. Woods fired from the car while being moved toward Junction.

Fredericksburg Giants routed the Mavericks 14 to 2 at Mason last Sunday to gain ground on the Llano Cowboys who split a doubleheader with San Saba in Llano. Ingram left with a sore shoulder after five runs crossed as Hugo Klaerner held the visitors hitless through seven.

Frank Smith and W Sweatmann of Willow City sustained cuts and bruises when Smiths Ford roadster collided with a large truck on Mason road near Adolf Stehling home about 3 a m Sunday. Clarence Fiedler unhurt. Injured taken to Hanns Hospital. Ford and truck both badly damaged and beyond repair.
The Gilles Pie County Fair has shifted dates from September 9 and 10 to September 15 16 and 17. Organizers announced the change to accommodate weather and crowd safety.
The Doss Concert Band and Doss Curtain Club present an entertainment at Doss on Saturday afternoon June 24. The program features goat roping a band concert and a play at night.
