Desperate Kerr County Battle With Indians
In 1857 a Kerr County party led by Willam Kelso pursued the Commanche raiders from Kerrville toward the Guadalupe valley. A night ambush left seven men wounded or dead, including Dan Murff and Tom Wherry. Goss and Price survived long ordeals in thickets and caves, while Kelso McAdams and Herridge reached Kerrville after days of peril. The narrative, drawn from Kerrville histories, preserves frontier courage and the fate of those who faced a brutal raid near Kerrville and the Guadalupe River corridor.
