The Loan and Abstract Company led by manager R G Striegler offers loans abstracts of title and fire insurance. They examine land titles and investigate loans from rooms 10 and 11 in the Gold Building Fredericksburg Texas.
Local notice from 1907 recounts the burial of the infant child of Mr and Mrs Felix Kuhlmann after death earlier in the week. Rev Gilatale conducted the funeral. The piece notes community members, Sunday school teachers, and local figures attending, plus various social and church events and local visits around Fredericksburg and Gillespie County.
The Ladies Auxiliary schedules the first regular meeting of its fourth year for Friday June 7 1918 at 5 pm at Court House Park with all members invited. Last year’s business will be reviewed. A Special Scout Service follows Sunday services at the M E Church South with Rev A R Vetter delivering a sermon to the Boy Scouts at their camp on the Pedernales river about eight miles from the city on the Kerrville road. Everyone is invited.
Junior Red Cross members began work Tuesday at the Priess building headquarters. Summer plans include knitting sewing quilting and similar activities. Over 200 members will meet twice weekly, under the direction of Mesdames Moore Maier Riley Maier Enderle and Misses Estill Arhelger Moursund Nauwald.

Miss Laura Koenig and Mr. Julius Friedrich united in marriage last Saturday at the Koenig home in Tivydale. Rev Holly officiated. The couple has many friends who extend congratulations and best wishes for a happy prosperous married life.
In a May 31 report the American forces near Toul penetrated German lines to about 400 meters, found many German dead from American artillery, and destroyed dugouts and defensive works. American casualties were insignificant.

Superintendent G. Jones of Kerrville Public Schools received notice from County Superintendent Nat Benton of Corpus Christi that he had been promoted to Conductor of the South Texas Summer Normal opening in Corpus Christi on June 17.
Victor Keidel owner of a large ranch between Bear Creek and Wolf Creek reports wolves increasing in the divide country. Last week Fritz and Herman Stieler killed eight wolves with hounds, but many remain. The rough mountainous area provides a rendezvous for wolves and raids on sheep goats and occasionally pigs have occurred. Stockmen plan a determined effort to exterminate them when weather permits.
Three prominent young men from Gillespie County depart Sunday to serve in the U S Army. Messrs Guenther Henke Edwin Grobe and Otto Baumann were included in a special draft for stock keepers and are praised for excellent training since boyhood. Their friends wish them well and success in the service of our country.
A five year old child, son of Mr and Mrs Ad Reet, was bitten by a large rattlesnake on Tuesday near Spring Creek. Home remedies failed. the child was taken to the city for medical care. Arm swelling was severe and pain great but his condition is now considered to be improving and out of danger.
The annual Gillespie County Farmers Vereinig ung picnic was held east of the city on Saturday. Members and families brought baskets and enjoyed a noon picnic dinner. Staudt's Band of Cave Creek provided music as attendees spent a pleasant day.
The Fredericksburg High School commencement was held at Klaemers Opera House with all seats filled. Ten graduates received diplomas as the program featured poems, essays, choruses, a dramatic reading, and speeches, followed by a post ceremony service at the M E Church South. Scholarships were awarded to Else Schoenewelt, Ira Wilke, Margaret Burgdorf, and Hugo Walter.

The Irish potato crop in Gillespie County is set for a record yield this year with ample new potatoes reaching city markets for home use and strong outside demand. A sample bush exhibited by Max Henke shows four potatoes weighing three and a half pounds from Herman Schmidt’s garden, highlighting the crop quality and significance of preventing waste.
Pupils of St Marys school held a pleasant picnic at the Fair Grounds on Tuesday this week. The day featured suitable games and enjoyed by both old and young. The event capped a successful term which closed for summer vacation on the 19th inst.
Government representative Mr. Senor from the War Savings branch will visit Fredericksburg for three days at the end of next week. A citizens committee will arrange a grand rally and street parade. He will speak at the Courthouse about the War Savings campaign running from June 28 to year end. The per person quota is $20. The community aims to meet the goal.
Mr B H Riley president of Gillespie County Good Roads Association will attend the Ozark Trail Association annual convention in Miami Oklahoma June 5 to 7 with delegates from Mason Brady and Waring Aug Offer. The event promises to boost local commercial interests as Gallespie County aims to have its towns included on the Ozark Trail.
