St Valentine Party and Red Cross Knitting Report
Fredericksburg High School 1918 graduates hosted a St Valentine party at Miss Edna rdh s home with games and a mock wedding. Guests drew roles for a bridal party and enjoyed a wedding supper. The Red Cross appeal urged wearing buttons and knitting helmets wristlets socks and sweaters. Gillespie County Chapter has shipped numerous linens apparel and hospital items to St Louis and local branches Harper Willow continue knitting red jackets and socks.

Three Aviators Die In Army Flight Accidents
Associated Press report from Lake Charles and Memphis states Lieut L F Plummer of New Rochelle New York died when his plane fell 100 feet at Gerstner Field during a landing attempt. In Memphis T C Rogers and P B Cooley cadets were killed when their craft collided at about 250 feet during practice flights. Rogers was from Prairie Grove Arkansas and Cooley from San Jose California.

Smallpox Spreads in Luling Family Claim
In Luling Texas on February 13 the smallpox outbreak reached the home of prominent residents Mr and Mrs G T Brown. The Brown boy contracted the disease, a rare case outside the Mexican population in a nearby area, and exposure could not be identified.

Son of General March Dies in Air Crash
International News Service reports Lieut. Peyton C. March Jr., chief of staff to the U S Army, died at Camp Bowie Base Hospital Fort Worth Texas from injuries after his plane fell about 1000 feet at Wing No 1 Taliaferro Field Tuesday night. He was unconscious after being pulled from the wreckage.
Camp Greene Abandoned as Training Center
The War Department plans to abandon Camp Greene in Charlotte North Carolina as a permanent training site due to unsuitable ground and severe winter mud. Major General Dickman reported site conditions while noting no health risk to soldiers until summer when movements will occur.

Private Perminter Loses Foot in Train Accident
