Grand Jury Finds No Bills As Court Term Opens Here
Judge Thomas Ferguson presides the fall District Court term opening here Monday. A grand jury impaneled for two days found no indictments and was dismissed Tuesday afternoon. A venire of 40 petit jurors was ordered for August 23. One criminal case Floyd McPeak was found guilty of auto theft and given a two year penitentiary sentence. Twelve civil suits and five divorces were heard, with most divorces dismissed and two granted. Custody and support orders were issued in one custody case.

A 1946 Chevrolet two door sedan stolen from San Antonio resident A. G. Wilson after knife threats was found on Tivydale road twenty miles south of Brady. Wilson, the robbery victim, reported being forced from his car near Mason after picks up two GI hitchhikers en route to San Antonio. He later claimed the vehicle and cash ($20 to $30) and flagged a bus to report the theft in Brady. Local officers were alerted.
