Word spreads for Frederick mobile medical clinic
Mission of Mercy opened its Frederick site at the Church of the Brethren on 201 Fairview Ave and expects about 60 patients on day one. The clinic, already serving Emmitsburg and Brunswick, will operate every other Monday with walk-ins welcome and appointments urged. The effort is coordinated by Community Agency School Services with local church support and seeks more volunteer doctors and dentists.

Ferret group outgrows Frederick venue moves to New Carrollton
The American Ferret Association, now the nation’s largest ferret group with about 3,500 members, will relocate its twice yearly show from Frederick to larger space in New Carrollton for the June 6, 1998 event. The headquarters also moved to McLean Virginia to handle rapid growth and daily operations as ferret ownership rises and the group counts about 440 ferrets at this week’s show.

Homewood trains bring Christmas spirit to community display
Karen Main marketing director at Homewood says the Christmas train displays spread holiday cheer as residents recall past train setups. Mr. Hoover, a longtime collector since 1948, has a 175 foot high school set and builds after Halloween, with a Santa Claus train every year. He attends Train Association of America's conventions in Strasburg, Pa, for adding pieces and plans to expand the display next year. The public can view the current layout daily until 7 p.m. through New Year's Day.
