A Continental Bank survey shows Chicago south and southwest suburbs reporting improved family finances and stronger business outlook. Twenty-five percent in southern suburbs say finances improved, while 14 percent rose from the prior survey.
Manpower Inc surveyed 11,175 employers and 468 colleges finding 54 percent of students see good chances for summer jobs, 31 percent pessimistic, and 15 percent unsure. Despite improvement, competition remains fierce as most students will take any job, including those unrelated to their majors, to earn money.
