Kingsbury disaster leaves scores dead and injured
A derailment near Kingsbury as a fast express sped west at fifty five mph derailed before a switch and collided with a second train. The wreck claimed many lives and injured dozens including Miss Nellie Tucker of Newton and Conductor James Coulter. The scene became a makeshift morgue as villagers assisted the dying and wounded. The grand jury in Warenrzoo Indiana returned four indictments against W M Fields president and four against C J Fields cashier of the First National bank of Cedar Falls which suspended May 16 charged with fraudulent banking. Bail set at 6000 each. Three indictments also returned against J T Knapp and J C Knapp of Knapp Co Cedar Falls who failed August 22 charged with fraudulent banking bail 4500 each.
