Investigation at Lagro crossing shows signals functioning but the tower watchman may have been sleeping or hallucinating. Injured Old Man Found Near Power Plant Tracks
Thomas Lynch, about sixty, a Lake Shore section hand, was found severely injured at 6:10 am along spur tracks near the power plant. Doctors reported extensive injuries including a severed right arm, missing right ear, scalp laceration, and severe leg injuries. he could barely speak and died soon after if not immediately. Fire and railway personnel investigated the cause, with no witnesses to the incident.

Dynamite Found Under Calitan Viaduct Before Taft Train
Southern Pacific officials received a report from Naples California detailing the discovery of thirty six sticks of dynamite under the Calitan viaduct twenty miles north of Santa Barbara shortly before President Taft's special train passed over the bridge en route to Los Angeles. A night watchman repelled a revolver attack by two men who fled. the dynamite was found at 2 am and Taft's train crossed at 5 51 am.

State 5 Determined to Speed Sturgeon Trials
Determined that J. Rufus Sturgeon shall not escape a speedy trial by technicalities. An affidavit charging selling liquor without a license was dismissed in city court after a jury was demanded. Deputies obtained circuit court warrants, and Sturgeon’s arrest followed at the sheriff’s office with bonds set at 100 dollars. William Kolber and John Moore were moved to circuit court.
