Washington May 16 The United States Supreme Court announced its decision dissolving the Standard Oil Company. Chief Justice White read the opinion with Justice Harlan dissenting on one point about unreasonable restraint of trade. The ruling follows long proceedings in Missouri and centers on the first two sections of the anti trust act.
Earl D Ryder of West Washington Street sought Navy service as a musician. After initial rejection for overlapping toes, he underwent procedures to straighten his toes and was accepted for further testing in Indianapolis and final eligibility exams planned.
Lieutenant George M. Kelly of the Thirtieth U S A died after a Curtiss plane fall during landing at Fort Sam Houston San Antonio Texas The crash occurred about fifty feet from the ground and Kelly suffered a fractured skull He had trained under Glenn Curtiss in California and recently arrived from San Diego He likely fell victim to an engine surge during landing The report also notes the marriage of Miss Mabel Jackson to Thor Bright on a Tuesday evening in Churubusco Indiana.
Fort Wayne Turnverein Vorwaerts celebrated the 100th anniversary of the German Turner movement with an evening program on West Superior street. Hon. Adolph Roggen spoke on Turnfather John, and classes performed wand drills, calisthenics, bars, and dumb-bell routines. An impressive Germania and Columbia tableau closed the program.
Officials from Prudential Insurance host a Wayne Hotel banquet in Fort Wayne to commend the district’s performances over the past year. H Rhodes Feder from Newark spoke on the year’s achievements and outlook, with remarks by Ross McCulloch J L Scott and C D Dillie. The Lutheran synod of Missouri shows rapid expansion from 1 010 congregations to 2 736 congregations and missions in thirteen years. The District of Columbia Supreme Court on its own initiative began contempt proceedings against AFL leaders Samuel Gompers John Mitchell and Frank Morrison. The high court had revoked their imprisonment and remanded for possible civil contempt related to a boycott list publication.

Fire in Payne Ohio destroyed the Harmon grain elevator and the residence of D. D. Hamilton at 9 30 pm Tuesday. Loss is estimated at 25000 with partial insurance. Firefighters fought the blaze near other elevators and called for assistance from Fort Wayne as the flames torched the structures.
Women of the Plymouth Congregational denomination drew public notice as their auxiliary met Tuesday to discuss home and foreign missionary work. The conference of ministers followed, with forenoon devoted to home missions reports and afternoon to foreign work. Mrs. Timothy Harrison, the state president, announced officer nominees and noted the foreign department report would be presented later. The home mission session, led by Mrs. Harrison and Miss Bertha Helming, reported a year’s contributions of 747 by the association for home missions. Delegates at the twelfth annual convention of the Catholic Benevolent League of Indiana hear the merger with the Catholic Columbia League creating a unified body with about 1,200 members. Supreme President T J Laughlin presides as committees are named and assets total about 35 000 dollars. The two day meeting includes degree work, a banquet, and a closing reception and dance.
At the next city council meeting August Bowser will seek a franchise to place gasoline tanks in streets for self service oil checks. City Attorney Hoan will decide if the city may grant the franchise. Boswer & Co asks to move the Holton school yard light tower for a new building, but council faces costly options on razing or relocation in the Eighth ward.
Morris Gary and Bernard Minear, both from Warsaw, Indiana, drowned during Warsaw High School students’ picnic at Tippecanoe Lake. They left with a boat to swim, failed to return, and were found after hours. Their clothing and an overturned boat indicated a tragedy. bodies were recovered late in the afternoon.

Taft reserved judgment after reviewing the court ruling with Attorney General Wickersham and recalled his 1910 message opposing inserting reasonableness into the Sherman Act.
Representatives from Westinghouse Kerr & Co New York and Chicago toured Fort Wayne to review the Spy Run avenue shops project by the Fort Wayne and Northern Indiana Traction Co. The firm plans to invite expert plans and bids and push an early start now that financing is in place, with VP Robert W. Watson returning from the east.
Edina Stoodie and Spiro Alexis, Bulgarians wanted in Fort Wayne Indiana for forgery and grand larceny, were arrested in Liverpool after the Lusitania’s arrival from New York. They were committed for extradition. Stoodie carried a large sum of gold. The pair fled Fort Wayne on May 1 after fraudulently securing about 500 dollars from a safety deposit box at the First National Bank under a renter’s scheme.
