Sentinel Roller Race Heads to St. Joe River Meet

A premium race for a tube roller will flow along the St. Joe river next Monday after noon. The Sentinel lists fifteen entries already entered for the event.

New Race Track Inaugurated With Eclat And Attendance

The new fair grounds and race track opened on Monday with clear skies and cool pleasant weather. About 2,000 attended as elegantly dressed spectators lined the grounds. Key races offered purses of 200 dollars each with Lucy winning the mile heats, and Dick Lewis taking the running race after withdrawals. A mishap occurred when Red Bird veered off, but both horse and rider escaped injury.

Midnight Shooting Affray Leads to Bonds for Accused

Charles A. Baker was arrested on an affidavit by Wm. Reed, a railroad conductor, charging assault with intent to murder after a midnight shooting at the Washington and Barr streets corner last Friday. The ball passed through Reed’s left hand. Baker posted $2,000 bonds and is due for examination Thursday at 10. S. M. Hench and W.G. Colerick appeared for the state and defense.
