John Lensser, 18 or 19, a West Front street machine shop worker, leaped from the Cincinnati and Covington suspension bridge at about three o clock on a $20 wager. Skiffs were ready to rescue, he hit the water feet first from a 103 foot drop, surfaced, and was saved by a boat and taken to the steamer Rogers. The event drew few spectators and was kept private.
