In Peterspure Virginia on July 3 at about midnight a dispute arose between Barney Jones and Woodson Dunn. Jones accused Dunn and his brother Lewis Dunn of coaxing his wife and daughter with improper motives. Jones grabbed an old army musket loaded with bird shot and fired at Woodson Dunn. The shot entered his right groin and passed through the body creating a two inch wound. Pronounced hopelessly incurable.
