At Columbia City last Tuesday night Jack Keefe was shot by baggage master Frank Douglas after an incident near the Pittsburg and Fort Wayne depot. Earlier, Mr and Mrs Jay McCracken of Fort Wayne were accosted at Miss Simonson's water tank. McCracken struck the assailant with an umbrella, leading to a confrontation. Douglas confronted Keefe in a saloon and, upon learning Keefe might be armed, fired three shots, two hitting Keefe in the head and cheek. Keefe’s condition is reported improving. McCracken is linked to Pittsburg freight office.

The well known minstrel organization of McNish Johnson and Slavin dissolved after a performance in Toledo on Wednesday night. Johnson and Slavin will continue the company on the road, while McNish fuses with Frank Ramzea and Charles Arno to form McNish Ramza and Arno’s minstrel company. Ramza and Arno are English comedians, wealthy and planning a large touring troupe managed by Charles W. Roberts. Roberts, former manager of Jennie Yeamanus and husband of Miss Fannie Dillon, will organize the group in Fort Wayne with rehearsals here next summer and an opening at the Masonic Temple. This is quite an advance for Summit City.
