Death of associate justice Jackson shocks nation
Miserville Tenn Aug 9 Hon Mewell Edmunds Jackson associate of the supreme court died at his residence at 2 o clock yesterday afternoon after a week of critical illness due to dropsical complications. He served as United States senator and circuit judge before being named associate justice. The president is expected to consider Hornblower or other nominees, with the supreme court vacancy to remain until congressional session. President Cleveland sent a telegram of condolence to Mrs Jackson.
