In LaGrange Indiana the Old Settlers Day events drew hundreds of county residents to the courthouse lawn. At 10:30 a.m. Judge B D Merritt, president of the organization, called the meeting to order as committees prepared to award prizes. The session adjourned to 1:00 p.m. for an afternoon program opened with prayer by Reverend D D Stilwell.

Walb Gets Contract for Lagrange Ditch
Clyde Walb of Lagrange was awarded the contract to dig the Fly Creek ditch in Lagrange County. The sixteen and a quarter mile project runs from Milford to Lima townships, across Johnson and Bloomfield, with about twenty bidders and Walb’s bid penny fat at five cents over par.

Electrical storm damages Adams County farms
Special to the Sourani-Gazatts reports an electrical storm across Adams County caused extensive damage. On the Rachael Matlonee farm at Root town shin a fire burned buildings and contents, about $800 loss with half insured. The William Smith barn near Pecatur suffered end damage from lightning and a fire started in the hay. Penn Mobinson was knocked unconscious by a shock, a gash cut the head, two men in the basement escaped to extinguish the blaze, and Mr Robinson was seriously injured, remaining unable to work.
