A Sunday revelry is interrupted as officers confront a lively crowd. A man on a barrel peeks through a transom while officers clear the gay assemblage. Neighbors reported the disturbance drew attention from local authorities.
Police officer Hines observed Creigh conducting a Sabbath desecration at his saloon on 12 Chicago street. Creigh pleaded guilty and paid a $10 fine plus $19.50 costs after being caught by Hines during a sting with two women and several men drinking inside. Riley, known as Fighting Riley, is noted in the report.
A man described as Riley faced police court after a Saturday night drinking incident. He pleaded guilty this morning and was fined one dollar plus costs. Riley told the mayor he planned to accept a job in Montpelier and would leave town if released. The mayor granted his request.

In Axton Ohio area on March 30 a masked attacker entered the Stone farmhouse near Tallmadge, killing Alvin N. Stone and Mrs Alyin N Stone and injuring farmhand Ira Symnson and daughters Stillson, Emma, and Harrie. Hattie Stone escaped after a head wound. The assailant mutilated victims, including ears and faces, then fled.
Bond Brook New Jersey becomes the setting for a green goods swindle. A Wisconsin farmer, B S Andrews, traveled with counterfeit notes wired to pass a $18 000 for $1 000 in treasury bills. In Easton and Bound Brook the plot moved by carriage to Fleming Junction the baited tin box held only old paper.
Judge Kirkpatrick ruled in favor of Rufus Magee in a landmark Kokomo case against Logansport Telephone Co. He held the city lacked power to grant street rights for a pole, stating the right of way creates an additional servitude and requires owner consent. The pole was erected at night despite Magee’s protests.
Summit City lodge No. 36 A O U W presents an evening program featuring piano solos violin and vocal numbers by Clara Kuinkel Ada Warrick Lillian Mathis Gus Holbrook and others. Recitations and duets are planned with Walter Hoemig and Chas Smenners among performers. Refreshments will be served after.

A Battle Creek man recalls a dramatic scene where a nervous accused thief was found with stolen goods. Surrounded by a gang, the man reportedly faced a rope until the noose began to tighten yet showed no fear. The speaker notes the culprit was a deaf mute colored man from North Carolina.
