J A Graham leaves for Lima on business. Mrs David Carver of Mattoon II visits Lakeside friends. Mrs Elizabeth Knight returns from Ann Arbor. Mattie Graham hosts guests on East Lewis street. Nellie Bulger assists Mr T J Logan as court stenographer. Mrs Anna Riggious of Etna Green returns home after treatment. A new diphtheria case reported at 150 Eliza street. Several cases now in the city. Mrs Wheeler of Michigan avenue hosts Congregational Afternoon Social. Shiloh chapter Eastern Star hosts Van Wert chapter tonight. Hazel Dormer and Ethel Meyers of Findlay entertain by Hilda Smith. Lola Loche returns to Chicago after visiting. Mr and Mrs Mank and Dr Harriet Steman attend Eastern Star meeting at Bourbon. Young Men s Sodality to present a musical and literary event at Library hall April 14. Elma Sanborn of Upper Sandusky ill while visiting relatives but improving.
The Afternoon Club hosted by Mrs J M Henry featured readings by Mrs A B Coverdale and Miss Norian McNutt with attendance by Mrs Arnold Hacket and Moses and Misses Lizzie and Edith Arnold of Huntington. The Word Garment Co opening drew locals including Miss Edith Arnold. Wayne Street M E church Women’s society plans its final pre conference meeting with annual report. Theosophical Society hosts a social in Berry and Harrison rooms. The B T W club formed with officers B Schroeder president H Heuer secretary H Brandt treasurer A Schwier I Bigstone W Kaiser. An impromptu music night at East Lewis Street featured A E McMahan and Mrs Martin Cleary. The Mystic Order of the Golden Fleece organized with 85 members at Harmony Hall. Officers D W Bowen M Swart I Bigstone W H Friend D Crow. Next meeting Wednesday at A G U W hall on Court Street.

Fort Wayne Common Council adopts ward by ward precinct map for the May 5 1896 city election. Precincts span Lakeside Park areas west of Harmer and east of Clay with rivers and streets defining boundaries. The plan assigns each ward a detailed precinct layout and seeks voter access across the re districts.
The Fort Wayne Water Works trustees iliam Butler T. H Haberkorn urge a committee of three to investigate omitted property and franchises taxed by state law. The council directs action to place missing property on the tax duplicate at fair value for the years omitted and report to the council.
Favorable comments note the Nickel Plate road and its Fast West express routing from New York City to Chicago with connections to points west. Departures include New York 6:00 p m and Chicago arrival 9:00 p m with low rates and reliable schedules.
