At the Travelers Protective Association of America executive committee meeting in Indianapolis, Hon. L. J. Bobilya was appointed as a member of the reception committee for the national convention to be held in Terre Haute, Indiana, from June 2 for four days. He received notice of the appointment by letter this morning.
John Wilkins, oil man of Camden Indiana, was struck in the right eye by a nail and blinded. He was treated by Dr Bulson in Fort Wayne then returned home. The Rathbone Sisters district convention is in Bluffton with Fort Wayne members traveling, including Mesdames Geary Hartle Shaw Lindsey and Klinger.
March 12 burglars wrecked the First National bank building at Germantown 12 miles west of here using giant powder and dynamite. They drilled the safe, blew a fuse, but inner doors blocked access to $70,000. A horse and wagon were stolen. robbers fled as villagers fired shots. building damage estimated at $1,000. Police pursue fugitives.
New York March 12 Nicola Tesla will publish in the Electrical Review his radiography experiments begun after Roentgen's discovery. He prints two radiographs one showing a man’s shoulder through clothing glass and wood the other a copper wire formed to spell Roentgen. He notes sleep and time distortion when the head is exposed and suggests streams of material particles may penetrate the skull with possible medical uses.
Dr Charles N Metcalf ex secretary of the state board of health died of pneumonia at his home in Indianapolis aged 78 He was a Mason an Odd Fellow and an Elk Funeral service will be held tomorrow at Crown Hill with members of his societies in attendance Mrs William Morris formerly Miss Lallie Ward of this city died in Richmond Virginia and her remains will return for interment Daniel Harmon funeral set for 2 pm tomorrow from the Harmon hotel Pallbearers named Cleary the tailor promotes spring fashions at 118 Harrison street Nickel Plate tickets to California points on sale with good connections at Chicago and other cities

In GuTerte Oklahoma on March 12 an impromptu show arose when California humorist Fred Emerson Brooks and bass William J. Macy joined Colonel Homer Jones of Larchmont New York to entertain his Oklahoma divorce colony friends. The village opera house hosted an unusual gathering with an audience of divorce seekers and their supporters as Mrs. Wiltsee from New York presided at the piano.

Two experienced diamond thieves were arrested within hours after substituting a cheap ring for a $140 solitaire at Leed’s jewelry store in Terre Haute. Police traced them to a Vandalia train and Brazil, with detectives from Terre Haute and local officers closing in. The suspects, using aliases John Phillips and John Johnson, are described as well dressed and likely known to larger city police. Authorities hope to confirm their identities and link them to other local crimes.
