A nighttime visitor was captured while attempting to seize cash from a drawer in a local business. Police responded to the scene, securing the area and interviewing staff. No injuries reported, suspect detained for investigation.
Arthur Webb was arrested in connection with an alleged till tapping incident. Police described the case as parallel with a noted Buck case, detailing Webb’s alleged actions and the ongoing investigation by authorities.
Officer Cooling captured Arthur T. Webb after five nights observing a bakery theft at Louis Scherer's shop on Maumee Avenue. Webb confessed to multiple entries, including May 8 and May 10, with small cash taken. He was bound over to circuit court in $500 after a preliminary hearing before Mayor Scherer.
Adolf Meyer died yesterday at 4 30 PM at 188 West Berry Street from heart disease. Born in Exina Prussia 61 years ago he came to Fort Wayne ten years ago. Survived by wife and children Jule Truman Bertha Meyer Samuel and Mrs Julian Pottlitzer Mrs Raymeyer Hannah Rita and Jacob Meyer all of Fort Wayne. Funeral from the residence tomorrow morning and shipment to Lafayette Ind for interment. He was well known in Fort Wayne and leaves many friends.
Tong Wong of Aurora and Miss Georgia of Chicago quietly wed at New England Congregational church with Rev. J. M. Sturtevant officiating. Wong, a successful Aurora laundryman and merchant, has long held first papers but not naturalized, while Georgia moved from Chicago where her father and uncle reside. Wong plans to join the Congregational church as his bride begins work at A. T. Wong's business on River Street.
Prohibition State Committee in Indiana inches toward a free coinage platform with delegates pledged for Chicago, as counties elect Democratic delegates aligned with free silver. Senator Turpie to preside at Friday’s free silver meeting. state party chair J Dunlap and gubernatorial nominee J S Kingsbury noted.
All parties with claims against Deco ration day committee must present them for payment to W. F. Geller at 98 Broadway. Geller serves as Treasurer for the committee.
In Brown's Park Utah on May 21 a four-on-one encounter followed discovery of a mineral deposit. Matt Warner killed or wounded all four attackers after a deadly skirmish. Two men died and two were mortally wounded. no arrests reported.
Charles A Seward and Edith J Johnson along with William Drew and Lizzie Muldoon were licensed to wed. Grace Reformed Church hosted a sermon by theology student John Rettig of Tiffin. The Bicycle club ran to Leo and back, with boys attending the Elks baseball game afterward. Mrs. P D Smyser and daughter Helen plan to attend Princeton commencement exercises. The Hibernian Rifles appeared in uniform for Decoration Day, drawing attention to their parade entry and marching discipline.

City Band gave a concert at Centlivre's park with 2000 in attendance. Reineke’s piccolo drew applause. Al Jaxthimer and C B Fitch return from Clear Lake to fish with the president. Mr Buecher, ex Adams and Armstrong, now runs a livery in Rome City. Humane Officer Schlaundroff reconciles Casper Keller and wife at 28 John street after Keller shot himself twice in the neck recently.
Cincinnati, Ohio June 1 Comment follows the Saturday night reorganization of Hamilton county Democratic committee. Linnenman backed by gold standard allies appointed James S. Myers Thomas Noctor John Juelg Henry Jansen and John Rheechan as silver delegates to the state convention in Columbus June 23. Linnenman warned the vote would affect future appointments amid party tensions.

In Wilkes-Barre Pa on June 1 a tragedy at the Ninth regiment national guard rifle range in Parsons occurred when John R Hipple fatally shot Obediah Rhoades, the 26 year old fifth sergeant, as he lifted above the danger line during a practice. Hipple, a fast friend of Rhoades, was prostrated by the event.
In Lebanon Indiana on June 1 Thomas Allen a wealthy stock dealer and Wallace Riley a prominent citizen dueled in front of the post office. Riley was killed instantly and Allen's son seated in the carriage was seriously wounded. The double tragedy stems from the elopement of Allen's 17 year old son with Riley's daughter. Allan is jailed claiming self defense.
A pole worker handling telegraph lines was shocked, hurled 40 feet to the ground, and suffered a fractured right leg and severe back injuries. He is bruised and may have internal injuries. Relatives left for Lima. Gasoline explosion at Bowser Oil Tank works caused a small blaze with damages under $300. No injuries reported. Xavier Nagel tripped on stairs at 35 East Fourth street, fracturing his right forearm and sustaining head and body injuries, not considered dangerous. A St. Joe hospital sister suffered a nose hemorrhage, bleeding heavily before medical aid stopped it.
