A Lakeview carpenter Richard Klattke killed his wife and both parents and three daughters then shot himself. All six victims were found in bed, apparently chloroformed. Weapons included two large knives. the killer reloaded after the initial shots. He had been out of work all winter.
Sheriff Hughes visits Churubusco while residents travel to Fort Wayne Chicago and Warsaw. Stocks cattle shipped to Buffalo praised. oil strike at Camden boosts local prospects. Burglary leads to two year sentences for Meiser and Slessman. Col Higgins omitted from Quiverwheel list triggers indignant reaction as he promotes tricycle riding.
Edward C. Devine, indicted in St. Paul for stealing a lithographing outfit valued at $10,000 from Gilbert J. Rice of Union Printing, was committed to an asylum in Rochester after a Minneapolis paper reported his mental breakdown. Officials are puzzled by the unique case and uncertain next steps.

Mrs. Rachael A Williard 75 resident of Allen county dies at home from old age. She leaves two daughters Mary and Ella and a Chicago resident son. Funeral Friday from corner Madison and Lafayette streets. Samuel Todd 50 dies at Hope hospital after illness. He leaves a wife and ten children.
In Marshalltown Iowa on February 5 eight desperate tramps were arrested after resisting officers. An officer struck a tramp with a billy, fracturing the skull of one attacker. Deputy Wall defended the jail during the riot firing twice, one bullet injuring a assailant in the groin. Wall sustained facial injuries but the sheriff was unharmed.
Wayne county farmers report a reign of arson targeting barns with losses around 3000 dollars. Suspect Fount Martin is jailed at Monticello as Kuklux members reportedly abduct Jim Foxell and threaten him. Froxell later accuses G J Marewm James Wright W K Jones Edward Jones Hartwell Spann and Robert Chrisman of mob involvement.
