The Post recounts a confrontation with the Consolidated Street Railroad company over possession of its printing press. An agent demanded immediate grasp of the press, warning retaliation against opposition. The confrontation follows prior alleged pressure against the paper and its staff.
Our special artist from Canton Ohio captured a picture of the aggregation. The joint committee of workingmen and businessmen appointed by the mass meeting last week is respectfully called to the fact that items arrived today in direct violation of the pledge of Superintendent Childs. The committee will investigate.
District Attorney today announced that all items tied to the H. B. Pitzel trial will be shipped to Mrs. B. Pitzel at Galva Illinois as soon as possible. They include Pitzel’s picture and the remains of the three children. Mrs Pitzel asked her counsel to arrange for shipment so she may give decent interment to her children. She also inquired about recovering money taken from her by Holmes during their travels. It is suspected Holmes received a large sum for his alleged confession. Counsel would not say if a judgment against Holmes will be entered, but it is believed nothing will be done. Miss Pitzel asks if steps can be taken to compel Lawyer Jeptha Howe of St Louis.

Republicans held city ward caucuses for councilor nominations with small attendance in most wards. In the Sixth, Seventh, Ninth and Tenth wards contests were spirited. Henry Hild was defeated in the Fifth by 13 votes, with McFee facing Wilson and the electric light works group. Ambrose Kintz won in the Ninth. I. N. Medsker in the Seventh. Henry F. Brill in the Tenth.
H F Biggar M D professor of surgical diseases of women praises Dr E P Banning lectures at Cleveland University of Medicine and Surgery. He says Banning appliances for spinal diseases and uterine deflections correct deformities without medicine and are scientifically based. Dr Banning stays briefly at the Aveline with hours from 9 am to 8 pm.
A Baltimore & Ohio brakeman about 40 identified as Brown died after an alleged push from a coworker near Walkerton at midnight. He left a letter to H. C. Quigley from Eric, Pa., claiming he may be buried if not heard from. the incident centers on his unconfirmed identity and the fatal injuries.
The board of public works rushed through late night business including sidewalk contracts on Tecumseh Jane Grace and Lafayette streets with bids from Hiram Porter H A Gerberding William Horstman and others. Pontiac street paving bids opened with Mack brick Canton block and Metropolitan options and several sidewalk and sewer contracts approved or prepared for plans.
The Democratic joint convention in the circuit court room chose L. J. Bobilya on the first ballot over rivals Will Ryan I B McDonald and W S Gandy with 62 votes to 27 16 and 10 Bobilya secured a plurality of one vote to represent the party in the senatorial race The chair allowed proxies to vote per instructed delegates The notice also advertises April 20 Senger Hall festivities and Easter travel discounts.
Peter Amstutz, an Amish settler near Maysville, was fined $1 and costs by Justice Bullerman for malicious trespass after an affidavit by Reuben Dieterick alleged he entered the house and caused discord. Costs totaled $22.95. the father's reportedly prosperous status did not avert remand of the son to jail.
