Fort Wayne workers report layoffs on the Swift farm street railway project with three new teams from a distant farmer and claims of hiring bypassing city labor. A mass meeting is set for Friday at 7 30 pm in City Hall to protest unfair treatment of home labor and call for action led by C F Baker.
Havana April 2insurgents seized Pino Del Rio and Santa Clara for several hours then burned them. General Weyler deems the towns impregnable and orders military governors recalled to Spain. Maprio April 2 sees a push for U S recognition of Cuban belligerency as a policy sympathy signal.
In Manson Wisconsin on April 2 six members of Joseph Kleiner’s family in Sun Prairie fell ill after drinking milk. A doctor warned full recovery is likely. Milk samples were sent to Dr A S Mitchell state chemist for testing. Mitchell notes unusual scientific interest in the toxin exposure from cream forming in pans. Michael Sullivan an engineer formerly with the Pittsburg Fort Wayne and Chicago railroad died at his Chicago home. He leaves a wife and several grown children.
