The District 209 Board held a special meeting with two members absent to address 15 student discipline hearings, more than in prior months. The board also delayed the Way Back Inn request, discussed maternity leave for Kathryn Moery, and approved four new coaches plus two Title IV consultants. A fire at Otto’s Restaurant in Forest Park caused evacuations but no injuries or damage.
Commissioner Lambke opposes appointing a commissioner to fill the vacancy. A court hearing set for Friday, Dec. 9 will decide whether the council must appoint or may delay. The suit, filed by about 30 residents and businessmen, cites People vs Brown on appointment timing.
Forest Park village hall and the post office will be closed on Friday November 11 for Veterans Day and reopen for business on Monday November 14.
Representatives of Real Estate Research met with Village Clerk William McKenzie to decide areas in Forest Park for a proposed business rehabilitation study. The study will focus on the bulk mail site at Roosevelt and Des Plaines avenues with potential follow up on other business areas if time allows after a two month period.
Two pedestrians foiled a robbery at Mobile Gas Station 161 N Harlem Ave forest park at 5 20 a m on Friday Nov 4. Police report none items missing and no suspects arrested. The couple’s timely walk helped prevent theft.
Rep Henry J Hyde Republican from Park Ridge announced his candidacy for re election to Congress from Illinois Sixth District. He first won in 1974 and captured 60.6 percent in 1976. At a district committeemen meeting he was unanimously endorsed for renomination.
