Exchange plan for Forest Park students rejected

North America Federal seeks second branch in Westmont
North America Federal Savings in Forest Park plans a second branch in Westmont at Cass and Ogden avenues after filing with the Federal Home Loan Bank board on December 30. The Westmont site is chosen to broaden service in an area not currently served by a savings institution. The board has received one complaint from Gage Park Savings, deemed not sufficient to block the proposal, and a decision is expected within weeks though approvals can take up to nine months.

Arson suspected in Forest Park apartment fire
Early Monday morning a fire at 315 Des Plaines Ave Forest Park caused minor damage confined to the sixth floor hallway carpet. Police and fire officials say the building was evacuated and arson is suspected though no suspects are named. Damage figures were not yet available.
