Proviso father crafts mural to spur Proviso East gymnasts
Livisa Mihailovic of Bellwood painted a 96 by 13 foot mural on the east wall of Proviso East High School’s gymnasium fieldhouse in Maywood to inspire gymnasts. The piece, completed in December 1977 after roughly 800 hours, depicts athletes on all apparatus. Mihailovic, not a professional artist, is employed by Reynolds Aluminum Co. in Brookfield and drew on his Yugoslavian training and his sons’ gymnastics to create the work, which the school council calls a proud artistic gift.
